Read this page to understand the graphic design options available to you within your Page-Engine accounts.
Fifteen years of building websites has convinced me that the number one time waster that webmasters struggle with are issues related to graphic design.

No kidding, if I had a dime for every hour I've wasted fiddling with aesthetic details, I could buy my own Caribbean island. Sadly, my experience is entirely normal.
It's understandable, as we tend to see our sites as an image of ourselves presented to the entire world, so we want to look our best.
But the truth is, nobody really cares too much about the design details of our site. This is easy to verify just by observing our own relationship with other people's sites.
Another truth is, whatever time we invest in how we look, is time not invested in creating content, getting links, and making money.
The goal of Page-Engine is to serve those who are serious about publishing quality content, and earning income.
Thus, the design options of Page-Engine accounts are limited, so that we can create a nice looking site with the least amount of time and effort.
But, this somewhat controversial philosophy has to be balanced against the fact that we are all human, and want some control over our public appearance.
With all this in mind, here are the design elements of your site you can control.
Design Options
Logo: You can upload any image to appear at the top of all your pages. Headshot: You can upload any image to appear at the top of your sidebar. Or, you can show no image in that position. Columns: Each of your pages can have a one column layout (no sidebar) or a two column layout (with a sidebar). Color Schemes: You can choose from dozens of different color schemes for your site. Just choose a color scheme from a drop down menu in your control panel, and your whole site changes colors. If you want further control, you can enter your own color hex codes for the page background, sidebar, and subscribe box.If you get confused about what colors to use, just click the default color scheme button for a nice looking neutral design, while you consider your options. Features: You can turn individual features in your sidebar on or off, and the buttons for these features will appear or not, depending on your choice. Images: You can of course add any images to your articles, which can have a substantial impact on the look of your site. For an endless supply of good images, see iStockphoto.com
Is This Right For You?
In summary, your site will look much like this one, except that you will choose your own logo, your own colors, and your own layout options. And of course, the images within your articles will be of your own choice. If you wish to be a website artist, Page-Engine is probably not for you, as the design possibilities are deliberately limited. On the other hand, if your goal is to get a nice looking site up and running with the least amount of time and effort, so that you can focus on publishing and earning, you may find Page-Engine serves that purpose for you.
