Use Categories To Organize Your Site

The category feature allows you to group related articles together in the navigation system so users can zero in on the information they are looking for.

Over time your site may grow to dozens, hundreds, even thousands of articles.

As this growth occurs it becomes ever more important that your site is organized so that users can find the information they need in a timely manner.

The category feature organizes your articles within the navigation system at the bottom of each page, and site map, so that users can easily find all your articles related to a specific topic.

As example, if your site is about cats, you might create categories such as kittens, cat health, exotic breeds, and so on.

Each of your cat articles could be placed in to one of these categories so it's easy for your readers to find the type of cat information they want.

If they want to read about kittens, they can find all the kitten articles on your site in a drop down menu at the bottom of every page of your site.

Or maybe you want to use your site or blog to discuss a wide variety of topics. So you might create categories such as current events, hockey, films, food etc.

If a reader is only interested in the hockey articles, they can find them all in a drop down menu at the bottom of every page.

When you are writing a new article you choose the appropriate category for that article in the Easy Publish form.

Managing Categories

To set up a new category, go to the Category Manager, type in a name for your new category and click a button. The new category is automatically added to your site everywhere it needs to be.

If necessary, you can rename a category, or delete a category.

You can ignore the category feature if you wish, and all your articles will be placed in a category called "main".

If you are planning a small site, the category feature may not be necessary.

If you are planning a large site, the category feature is the essential tool that will keep your site orderly, and allow your readers to find any page from any page.

Don't forget, we offer forum and forum network hosting too.
