Page-Engine Support Policies

This page describes the support available for your Page-Engine account.

As you consider the options for creating your website, comparing the support available at different hosts is part of the equation.

This page will honestly explain the pros and cons of Page-Engine support policies so that you can make the decision that's best for you.

Technical Support

Page-Engine software has been used to build sites for 5 years, so you should expect a reliable hassle free experience.

However, if you suspect there's a technical problem with your Page-Engine account, please let me know right away so I can investigate. Bug reports are welcome, even if it's just a typo.

If you don't understand how a feature works, please first consult the help files provided with every page of your control panel.

If the help files don't answer your question, please forward your question on to me.

By the way, Page-Engine and your site are physically located in a data center run by Servint, a well respected company that has also been in the hosting business since the mid 90's.

Unlike many hosts you'll find online, all our operations are run by experienced adults from top to bottom.

Pros And Cons

Large web hosts provide support through their employees. Thus, your contact with a large host will be through their entry level support staff.

Your support experience can vary widely from one large host to another, and one employee to another. You cross your fingers, and hope that the person that receives your support request is both willing and able to assist you.

At Page-Engine, you get support directly from me, Phil Tanny.

I'm the owner of the company, and the programmer that wrote the site building software. I'm a mature person in my late 50's, and have been providing hosting services to webmasters since 1996.

Whether your question is related to the business or technical side of your Page-Engine account, I have the ability and authority to address the issue. The buck stops with me.

The downside to receiving support directly from the owner and programmer of Page-Engine is that I have to sleep sometimes. Thus I can't offer you 24/7 support.

With a big host, you get 24/7 support from entry level support staff.

With Page-Engine, you get professional level quality support from a skilled responsible person, who won't succeed unless you do too.

Your choice.

Business Consulting

Because Page-Engine is a free service, I'm unable to provide personal business consulting as part of the deal.

It's just not feasible for me to offer one-to-one customized business advice regarding all the many decisions that will go in to the development of your unique online business.

However, I really do want you to succeed, because that's how I'll succeed too.

So I invest my time in to writing articles that all Page-Engine users can benefit from.

You may find the following resources useful.

  • Webmaster-Engine.com is where I offer online publishing information and advice articles. You might want to begin with the One Page Guide To Web Publishing Success.

  • Once you have your Page-Engine account, you'll find a series of business building tutorials installed within your site builder account.

  • Net Publishing For Beginners is a ten part article series that introduces the principles that are fundamental to online publishing success.

  • When you're ready to dive deeper in to the details, consider this tutorial which shows non-profit organizations how to fund their projects with online publishing.

Although the tutorial is written for non-profits, you can use the techniques described for your own business website.

  • If you really would like to have a personal mentor, consider Lynn Terry's forum.

There's a free section where you can meet other webmasters, and then a paid private section where you can get personalized one-to-one advice regarding your project directly from Lynn.

Lynn's a great person, and many people find her assistance to be very helpful.

  • Obviously, I don't know you and your personal preferences, and thus really have no way of knowing what host is best for you.

I've tried to describe what is available here for you as accurately and honestly as I can, and will welcome any questions you may still have.

Don't forget, we offer forum and forum network hosting too.
